A multi-agency operation resulted in law enforcement recovering four stolen cars, hundreds of stolen car parts, and one arrest, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

HCSO said its Auto Theft Task Force and SWAT team took part in the execution of three search warrants across three locations in Harris County. Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said it was a joint operation with the Texas Department of Public Safety, Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, Homeland Security, and Houston Police Department.

"Auto theft is a serious crime that impacts victims across our region, and one agency cannot combat it alone. We rely on strong partnerships with local, state, and federal law enforcement to share resources, strengthen investigations, and continue reducing this type of crime in our communities." — Sheriff Ed Gonzalez

The sheriff's office said 252 car parts were recovered in addition to the four vehicles.

At one of the locations, near Tidwell Road and the North Freeway, investigators found a stolen vehicle and various stolen car parts. While executing that search warrant, a man attempted to flee the scene but was taken into custody on an outstanding felony warrant, HCSO said.

At another location on Sandydale Lane, detectives found two more stolen vehicles and additional stolen car parts. A fourth vehicle was recovered at a third location near Hill Road and Airline Drive, along with more stolen parts.

Investigators noted that the process becomes significantly more complicated when stolen vehicles are dismantled for parts.

"A lot of times they part these cars out, and each individual part has a serial number and some don't. When you separate all that, it is a lot harder to identify that as an actual stolen vehicle." — HCSO Detective Jose Castellanos

The investigation into the stolen cars and parts remains ongoing.
