What investigators say happened

Houston Police Department investigators said the operation targeted high-end vehicles being transported through Houston. According to reporting based on police and court records, suspects allegedly rerouted vehicle shipments, posed as authorized drivers or transporters, disabled tracking equipment and moved some vehicles toward ports for possible export.

KPRC 2 reported that investigators linked roughly 15 vehicles to the scheme over about three months. FOX 26 reported that court records described activity stretching from August 2025 through September 2026. Some vehicles were located at the Port of New York and New Jersey inside shipping containers reportedly labeled as rebar.

Who was charged

Police identified four adults and one 17-year-old juvenile. The adults named in local reporting were:

  • Dheyaa Thabit Abd, 41
  • Iman Ouda Al Saedi, 35
  • Matthew Gonzalez, 29
  • Saifuldeen Al Gburi, 30

All five face allegations of engaging in organized criminal activity. No conviction has been reported.

Why this matters in Houston

The case illustrates how vehicle theft can intersect with commercial transport, identity impersonation and export logistics. Recovery may depend on rapid coordination among owners, carriers, police, port authorities and tracking providers.

Practical checks for vehicle owners and transport customers

  • Verify the carrier and driver directly before releasing a vehicle.
  • Keep bills of lading, vehicle identification numbers and current photos together.
  • Confirm unexpected routing or pickup changes through a known company phone number.
  • Report unexplained tracker disconnections or delivery discrepancies promptly.

What remains unknown

Authorities have not publicly detailed how every vehicle was selected, whether all owners have received their vehicles, or whether additional arrests are expected.
